Brief Biography-Edmond Marion Ashe hailed from New York; his paintings are mostly known for images of work scenes. He was an illustrator and artist-correspondent for various magazines in New York before moving to Pittsburgh; there, he was made the head of the Department of Painting and Design at the Carnegie Institute of Technology. He spent a good deal of his life teaching in various art schools. During his time in Pittsburgh, Ashe took a great deal of inspiration from factory scenes. |
