Hendrick Avercamp

1585-1634 Netherlands-Renaissance

 

Brief Biography-Hendrick Avercamp was born in Amsterdam and lived in Kampen where he spent the whole of his life. He was referred to as the Kampen Mute, because it is thought he was deaf and dumb. He was taught by the Danish artist Pieter Isaacsz who was a Dutch Golden Age artist. Avercamp specialised in winter landscapes and enjoyed a successful career.
