Alesso Baldovinetti

c. 1425-1499 Italy-Early Renaissance

 

Brief Biography-Alesso Baldovinetti the mosaicist from Florence also worked in stained glass. It was thought he trained in the atelier of Domenico Veneziano however this is uncertain. It is however assumed he was influenced by Veneziano and Fra Angelico. He worked mainly doing mosaics in religious themes in Florence and was a highly-regarded artist of his time. One of his students was Andrea del Verrocchio. Examples of his works are in the Uffizi Gallery, Florence and The Louvre, Paris.
