Norbert van Bloemen

1672-1746 Belgium-Baroque

Brief Biography-Norbert van Bloemen was from Antwerp. His 'bent name' amongst the Bentvueghels in Rome was Cefalus. Some of his influence came from his older brother Pieter who tutored him in early life. Along with his other brother Jan Frans, all three spent time in Italy. Jan Frans stayed in Italy for the remainder of his life and Pieter returned to his native Antwerp. Norbert travelled to Amsterdam where he settled. He was the least successful of the three brothers; however, his work did have a considerable level of merit.
