Antonietta Brandeis

1848-1926 Italy-Veduta

Brief Biography-Antonietta Brandeis was from the Eastern European region of Galacia. After a spell studying in Prague she moved to Venice at the age of nineteen. In Venice she enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts and graduated in 1872. She became successful as a landscape painter shortly after graduation. Throughout her career she specialised in vedute paintings, mostly of Venetian scenes. Visitors from England and Austria were among her top clientele for landscapes of Venice. She also painted a series of altarpieces in and around the northern regions of Italy. Rome and Florence were two other cities she did numerous landscape paintings of. She lived the last two decades of her life in Florence on Via Mannelli.
