Frans Alvar Alfred Cawén

1886-1935 Finland-Expressionism

 

Brief Biography-Frans Alvar Alfred Cawén was from Korpilahti, Finland. His formal studies were in the Academy of Fine Arts for two years, after which he studied in Paris for a year. He travelled Europe extensively at intervals whilst teaching at the Drawing School of the Finnish Art Society. He was a member of the Academy of Fine Arts and later became chairman of the Artist's Association of Finland. His wife Ragni Cawén was also a successful artist, she lived until 1981.
