Antonio da Corregio

c 1490-1534 Italy-High Renaissance

Brief Biography-Antonio Allegri named himself Correggio after his place of birth. He was trained by the artist Francesco Bianchi from Ferrara in Northern Italy. He worked mainly out of Parma. He was recognized as the first to become noted for the art of fore-shortening figures. This is evident in his work in the cupola, in the cathedral at Parma. Correggio was regarded as one of the most supreme artists of Italy in his time.
