Eugène Gustav Dücker

1841-1916 Estonia/Germany

 

Brief Biography-Eugène Gustav Dücker was born in Kuressaare Estonia in 1841. He studied in Saint Petersburg for six years at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1864 he moved to Düsseldorf and remained there for the rest of his life, visiting neighbouring countries on study trips. He entered the Art Academy of Düsseldorf where he succeeded Oswald Achenbach as Professor of Landscape Painting. His foremost romantic subjects were landscapes of the North Sea coast and Northern Germany.
