Eduard von Gebhardt

1838-1925 –Estonia/Germany Historical/Religious

 

Brief Biography-Eduard von Gebhardt from Estonia first studied in the Art Academy of Saint Petersburg. He went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, Germany and was later a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy. He lived the remainder of his life in Düsseldorf. His works consisted mainly of religious and historic themes. Notable Estonian artists were students of Gebhardt.
