Nuno Gonçalves

Known works 1450-1471 Portugal/Early Renaissance

 

Brief Biography-Nuno Gonçalves is regarded as the most important Portuguese artist of his era. Not much is known of his life except he was court painter to Afonso V and his most noted works were the Saint Vincent polyptych. It has numerous portraits of nobility and members from the court of Afonso. It can be viewed in the National Museum of Ancient Art, Lisbon.
