Juan Rodríguez Juárez

1675-1728 Mexico/Baroque

 

Brief Biography-Juan Rodríguez Juárez, born in Mexico City, was a painter of religious subjects and a noted portraitist. His brother Nicolás, who was a priest, was a renowned artist of his time. Juan received tuition from Nicolás and his father Antonio, who was also an artist. His great grandfather José, and grandfather Antonio were also artists. The works of Francisco Zurbarán most notably influenced him.
