Carl Larsson
1853-1919 Sweden/Watercolours
|
Brief Biography-Carl Larsson, of a poor Stockholm family, was admitted from the school for poor children to the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts on the recommendation of his teacher. He later found work as an illustrator for publications, giving him financial security. Larsson perfected his watercolours in Paris when working with a Swedish artist group. He settled in Darlarna, Sweden, with his wife and eight children. His house and children became the subjects of his many works. His wife Karin Bergöö was an artist and interior designer, and her taste made an impression on Swedish interiors. The house is now open to the public. |
