Andrei Andreyevich Popov

1832-1896 Russia/Realism

 

Brief Biography-Andrei Andreyevich Popov was initially trained by his father, who was a painter of religious icons. He later studied with Maxim Vorobiev at the Saint Petersburg Imperil Academy of Arts. He exhibited at the Society for the Encouragement of Artists and went on to work at the Imperial Academy. He won the title of Artist and was able to visit Paris to enhance his studies. After visiting Germany and Belgium he returned to Russia in 1867. He settled in his home town of Nizhny Novgorod and eventually died from a lung disease in relative poverty.
