Brief Biography-Walter Dendy Sadler was born in Dorking, England. He studied at the Heatherly’s School of Art, London. The artist, Wilhelm Simmler in Germany, tutored him as a private student between 1871 and 1875. His paintings were mostly of genre scenes, his most famous being that of monks fishing at a stream. He was known to create stage-like scenes with local people as models in amusing situations to paint. He was a member of the RBA. |
