Brief Biography-Hugo Gerhard Simberg was born in Hamina in 1873. He studied at the Finnish Art Society before entering the studio of Akseli Gallén-Kallela for three years. He visited Italy, France, England and America. His most famous works are at the Cathedral in Tampere, where he painted a larger version of "The Wounded Angel" in the Ateneum art gallery in Helsinki. |
