Zacarías González Velázquez

1763-1834 Spain/Baroque-Neoclassicism

 

Brief Biography-Zacarías González Velázquez was a son of Antonio González Velázquez who was son of Pablo the sculptor. He studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and was hugely influenced by the artist Mariano Salvador Maella. He worked in the Tapestry Factory of Santa Bárbara where his father also worked. He later became court painter and was selected as Director General of the Academia in 1828.
