Michael Wolgemut

1434-1519 Germany Early Renaissance-Graphic Artist

 

Brief Biography-Michael Wolgemut was from Nuremberg; He had the largest workshop in the city where Albrecht Durer did his three year apprenticeship. Wolgemut's work is best known for illustrations; however he did a considerable amount of woodcuts and large scale altarpieces. His stepson Wilhelm Pleydenwurff assisted him with many of works.
