Frederick James Aldridge

1850-1933 England/Maritime Painter

Brief Biography-Frederick Aldridge was from Northing in Sussex where he lived for most of his life. He began to paint when he was twenty, mostly in watercolour and was soon exhibiting at the Royal Academy. Aldridge travelled abroad, but the bulk of his work was of English maritime scenes. He based himself in his gallery shop in Worthing; however, his failing sight caused him to cease painting six years before his death in 1933.
