Brief Biography-Wilhelm Ferdinand Bendz was a native of Odense, Denmark. He was a disciple of Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, the precursor of the new Golden Age of Danish Painting. Bendz focused mainly on genre scenes and portraiture. He worked in the studio of Eckersberg before travelling to Germany, where he settled in Munich for a year. From Munich, he went to Italy to study. Sadly, he caught an infection in Venice and died at the young age of 28. |
