|
Brief Biography-Pedro Berruguete of Paredes de Nava painted his earliest known works in the Avila Cathedral. After 1483, he worked in Toledo Cathedral and was a painter for Ferdinand and Isabel. The influence of Italian and Flemish art is evident in his paintings. After studying in Flanders, he spent time in Italy, where he painted in the Ducal Palace at Urbino for Federigo di Montefeltro, duke of Urbino. Scholars may attribute some of his work to Justus van Gent, or he might have collaborated with him in Urbino. His son Alonso who trained in Italy, became a renowned sculptor of the 16th century. |
