Antonietta Brandeis
1848-1926 Italy/Veduta
|
Brief Biography-Antonietta Brandeis was from the Eastern European region of Galicia. After a spell studying in Prague, she moved to Venice at nineteen. Brandeis enrolled in the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice and graduated in 1872. She became successful as a landscape painter shortly after graduation.
She specialised in vedute paintings throughout her career, mostly of Venetian scenes. Visitors from England and Austria were among her top clientele for the landscapes of Venice. She also painted a series of altarpieces in and around the northern regions of Italy. Rome and Florence were two other cities in which she painted many landscapes. She lived her last two decades in Florence on Via Mannelli. |
