Luca Carlevarijs
1665-1730 Italy/Baroque
|
Brief Biography-Luca Carlevarijs was an etcher and architect from Udine. When in Venice, he spent his painting time doing views of the city. Caspar van Wittel was his primary inspiration for his talent for working with perspective; however, the Austrian artist Johann Anton Eismann who settled in Italy, also influenced him. As a result, he became the first successful view painter of Venice and made a strong impression on the young Canaletto, who succeeded him. | |
