Brief Biography-Juan del Castillo of Seville was a disciple of Luis Fernández, a historical painter of Madrid. Francisco Pacheco, Juan de Roelas and Taddeo Zuccari Influenced his work. He was the younger brother of the artist Agustin whose son Antonio del Castillo y Saavedra was a notable pupil of his. Juan del Castillo painted religious works in Seville, Granada, and Cadiz, where he died. His other exceptional students were Bartolomé Esteban Murillo, his brother-in-law Alonso Cano and Pedro de Moya. |
