Casimiro Castro

1826-1889 Mexico/Art Nouveau

 

Brief Biography-Casimiro Castro, born in Tepetlaoxtoc, Central Mexico, was a painter and lithographer who studied at the Academia de San Carlos in Mexico City. He produced lithographs of various subjects for several Mexican publications. His most noted album was Mexico, and its Environs, which contained landscape images of Mexico City and the people therein. He visited Italy and Spain, which inspired many architectural prints. The works of Jose Maria Velasco strongly influenced him.
