Hugo Charlemont

Brief Biography-Hugo Charlemont, originally from Moravia, Czechoslovakia, was from a family of painters. His father Matthias Adolf, his brother Eduard and his daughter Lilly were all painters, and his brother Theodor was a sculptor. Hugo trained at the Viennese Academy of Fine Arts under the landscapist Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels. He studied with his brother Eduard in Holland for a spell and learned printing and etching under William Unger in Vienna. His works hang in Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Chicago. |
