Antonio María Esquivel

Brief Biography-Antonio María Esquivel y Suárez de Urbina was born in Seville, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. In Madrid, he entered the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and later received the Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. He gained the position of Painter of the Chamber in 1843 and became a member of the Academy in 1847. Esquivel was a co-founder of the Society for the Protection of Fine Arts. The works of Bartolomé Esteban Murillo were his primary influence in painting. |
