Brief Biography-Vasco Fernandes of Viseu, Portugal, executed his works in that city and regions throughout Portugal. He painted Altarpieces in many churches, including the Cathedral of Viseu and Lamego. The artist Gaspar Vaz, also of Viseu, assisted him in his undertakings. He was considered the most celebrated Portuguese artist of the period and was known as Grão Vasco, the Great Vasco. Paintings by him hang in the Grão Vasco National Museum in Viseu. |
