Georg Flegel

Brief Biography-Georg Flegel was born in Moravia in 1566. He moved to Vienna and worked for Lucas van Valckenborch inserting staffage into his paintings. In 1593, he and Valckenborch worked in Frankfurt, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Flegel was made a Frankfurt citizen in 1597 and became one of the most renowned German still-life painters. His two sons, Friedrich and Jacob, were also artists. |
