Hércules Florence

1804-1879 Brazil/born in France

 

Brief Biography-Hercules Florence was born in Nice in 1804. He sailed to Brazil in 1824 and worked as a lithographer in Rio de Janeiro. In 1825, Florence received a post as an illustrator for an Amazon expedition by the German explorer Georg von Langsdorff, of which Florence later published a detailed account. He was an unknown inventor of photography in Campinas after he married twice and settled there for life.
