Brief Biography-Jean-Martial Frédou was born in Fontenay-Saint-Père, France. He studied at the Royal Academy and became the First Painter of Portraits at Versailles. He copied official portraits done by Maurice Quentin de La Tour, Jean-Marc Nattier, and Alexander Roslin. Frédou replaced François-Hubert Drouais as First Painter to Louis XVIII. |
