Nuno Gonçalves

Known works 1450-1471 Portugal/Early Renaissance

Brief Biography-Nuno Gonçalves was the most significant Portuguese artist of his era. Unfortunately, facts are scarce about his life except that he was a court painter to Afonso V, and his most noted works were the Saint Vincent polyptych. It has numerous portraits of nobility and members of the court of Afonso. It is on view in the National Museum of Ancient Art, Lisbon.
