Eugène Grasset

Brief Biography-Eugene Grasset was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1845. His master was the Swiss artist François-Louis David Bocion, and he also studied architecture in Zurich. Japanese and Egyptian art influenced his style, and he moved on to designing Art Nouveau tapestries, ceramics, and jewellery in Paris in 1871. His posters became hugely popular in America, and he accepted numerous magazine commissions. Grasset taught design in various academies, leaving a solid impression on many of his noted students. He died in Paris in 1917. |
