Brief Biography-Francisco Gutiérrez Cabello of Madrid painted in a Flemish style through the influence of Juan de la Corte of Flanders, who resided in Madrid. Corte’s initial persuasion came from Sebastiaan Vrancx and Jan Vredeman de Vries. Gutiérrez Cabello was a painter of architectural and religious scenes and studied prints by de Vries. Three of his works are in the Prado: The Judgment of Solomon, José showing his father and his brothers to Pharaoh, and Project of a Temple. |
