Brief Biography-Born in Boston in 1859, Fredrick Childe Hassam was one of the first impressionist painters in America. His first painting tuition was at the Boston Art Club; he later travelled to Europe and studied in France. Hassam achieved considerable success in America, exhibiting at the 1913 Armory Show, which took place in New York, Chicago, and Boston. The show consisted of a long list of the most successful artists from America and Europe. In ddition, his Avenue in the Rain hung in the Oval Office during President Obama’s term. |
