Brief Biography-Daniel Hernandez Morillo was from Huarpa, Huancavelica, Peru. He left for Italy in 1875, where he spent the next ten years. In 1885, Daniel went to Paris and became influenced by the rococo painting style. He won a gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1900 and, a year later, was awarded the Legion d’Honneur. He returned to Peru in 1917 and became the director of the National School of Beaux-Arts of Lima, a position he held for the remainder of his life. Jorge Vinatea Reinoso was one of his students there. In addition, he undertook numerous commissions for the government. |
