Brief Biography-Jaume Huguet of Catalonia was born in Valls in Tarragona. He took his initial instruction from his uncle Pere Huguet and eventually set up his workshop in Barcelona in c. 1448. Bernat Martorell influenced his style, and his work which was in high demand, had a profound sway on the paintings of Catalonia. One of his most notable works is The Consecration of Saint Augustine, now in the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Barcelona. |
