Active c. 1455-1485 Spain/Early Renaisssance
|
Brief Biography-Jorge Ingles, known as Master George, was one of the first Spanish painters to work with a Flemish influence. The Marquis de Santillana engaged him to paint the high Altar in his Hospital of Buitrago church in Granada in 1455. It gloriously depicts the Marquis praying on the right with a page behind him and the Marchioness praying with a Lady of Honour present on the left. The high Altar holds the painting of Saint George with angels. It is his only documented work. However, scholars attribute more altarpieces to him. |
