Brief Biography-Johan Laurentz Jensen was born in the Gentofte Municipality, Denmark, in 1800. He was a painter of flowers, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, and became a disciple of Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg and Cladius Detlev Fritzsch. In Paris, Jensen learned the art of miniature painting at the Sèvres Porcelain Factory. He visited Italy for inspiration and, after his return, was appointed the first painter in the Danish Porcelain Factory. He also painted dead fowl and earthenware. |
