Juan Rodríguez Juárez

1675-1728 Mexico/Baroque

 

Brief Biography-Juan Rodríguez Juárez, born in Mexico City, was a painter of religious subjects and a noted portraitist; Juan received tuition from Nicolás and his father, Antonio, also an artist. His great grandfather José and his grandfather Antonio were also artists, and his brother Nicolás, a priest, was a renowned artist of his time. The works of Francisco Zurbarán most notably influenced him.
