Johan Krouthén

Brief Biography-Johan Krouthén of Linköping, Sweden, studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts along with Oscar Gustaf Björck and Anders Leonhard Zorn. A disagreement with Director Georg von Rosen led Krouthén and Zorn to abandon the Academy. He visited Skagen to spend time with the realist painters, where he painted landscapes. He later painted portraits and interiors. He married and settled in Linköping, where he lived between 1884 and 1909 when he moved to Stockholm after his wife’s death. Krouthén exhibited at the Paris Salon, where he won an award and frequently displayed his art in Stockholm. His works are in the Norrköping Museum of Art and the Göteborg Museum of Art. |
