Brief Biography-Peder (Paul) Severin Krøyer was born in Stavanger, Norway, in 1851 and raised in Copenhagen. He studied at the Danish Academy of Art, and in Paris, he was a student of Léon Bonnat. He became a principal painter in the Skagen group of impressionist artists in Northern Denmark in 1882. Sadly, his painting ceased due to a mental illness, and his sight failed in his fifties. Nevertheless, some of his images are renowned for their remarkable impressions of sunlight. He died at Skagen in 1909. |
