Brief Biography-Fitz Hugh (Henry) Lane was a proponent of Luminism, a mid-nineteenth-century landscape style with impressionistic light effects. Marine art was his principal subject, and he was also a printmaker. Lane was born in Massachusetts and died at the house he designed with harbour views in Gloucester in 1865. |
