Le Nain Brothers
France/Baroque Genre-Portraits.
|
Brief Biography-Louis, Antoine and Mathieu Le Nain lived between 1593-1677. There have been some doubts about their exact birth dates. Louis was the oldest, and Mathieu was the youngest. Although not ascertained which artist did each painting, Louis is said to have done most of the genre paintings, Antoine the miniatures and Mathieu was the portraitist; however, understanding has it that all three may have worked on most of the pictures. They shared a studio in Paris. |
