Eduard Magnus

1799-1872 Germany/Portraitist

 

Brief Biography-Eduard Magnus was born in Berlin in 1799. He studied art at the Prussian Academy of Arts while also studying architecture, philosophy and medicine. His master was Johann Jacob Schlesinger from Worms, who was a restorer at the Berlin Royal Museum. Magnus visited France, Italy, Spain and England on his various study and work trips, and the Berlin Academy elected him professor in 1844. He died in Berlin, a master portraitist.
