Eduard Magnus

1799-1872 Germany/Portraitist

 

Brief Biography-Eduard Magnus was born in Berlin in 1799. He studied art at the Prussian Academy of Arts under Johann Jacob Schlesinger from Worms, a restorer at the Berlin Royal Museum while studying architecture, philosophy, and medicine. Magnus visited France, Italy, Spain and England on various study and work trips, and the Berlin Academy elected him a professor in 1844. He died in Berlin as a master portraitist.
