Brief Biography-Rutilio di Lorenzo Manetti of Siena was a disciple of Francesco Vanni, who influenced him greatly. He worked in frescos and oils but differed from his master in his pencilling. Manetti was also impressed by the works of Caravaggio, and he applied the effects of tenebrism to his paintings. The subject of architecture was also one of his interests. Many of his works are in the Holy places of Siena, Pisa, Rome, and Florence. |
