Brief Biography-Luis de Morales, born in Badajoz, is better known as The Divine Morales because of his image's piousness. Although, according to Palomino, his real name is unknown. He was a disciple of Maesse Pedro Campagna in Seville and worked for Philip II in El Escorial. The works of Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Flemish art were his principal influences. Most of his paintings are in Madrid, and his Saint Jerome in the Wilderness is in the National Gallery of Ireland. He died in Badajoz in 1586. |
