Richard Thomas Moynan

1856-1906 Ireland/Genre-Realism.

Brief Biography-Richard Thomas Moynan was born in Dublin in 1806. He studied at the Metropolitan School of Art and won the Taylor Scholarship at the Royal Dublin Society in 1879. It enabled him to study in Antwerp, and in Paris in 1885, he studied under William Adolphe Bouguereau. When he returned to Dublin, he became a member of the Royal Hibernian Academy. He mainly painted genre scenes but procured his income from portraiture. Moynan’s immoderate lifestyle is said to have led to his early passing.
