Pieter Mulier the Elder

C. 1610-1670 Holland/Baroque

 

Brief Biography-Pieter Mulier, the Elder of the Dutch Golden Age from Haarlem, was a student of Simon de Vlieger. Jan Porcellis and Jan van Goyen influenced him. In 1638, Pieter became a Haarlem Guild of Saint Luke member. His works were primarily seascapes with rough waters and sailing vessels. His son Pieter Mulier, the Younger, was his student.
