Anthonie Palamedesz

1601-1673 Netherlands/Baroque

 

Brief Biography-Anthonie Palamedesz (Staevarts, or Stevers and Stevens), son of Palamedes Staevarts, a gem engraver, was born in Delft in 1601. He studied under Dirk Hals, whose style he painted in, and he was a painter of portraits and merry company. The Guild of Saint Luke admitted him in 1621, and he became Dean before he died in 1673. His paintings hang in principal galleries in Europe.
