|
Brief Biography-Pieter Jansz Quast was born in Amsterdam c. 1605. In 1632 he went to The Hague, where he married Anne Splinters, and two years later, the Guild of Saint Luke admitted him as a master in that city. He was a painter of surgical operations and peasant and tavern scenes. He also painted religious works; however, they did not hold the highest esteem. Quast returned to Amsterdam in 1643. The influence of Adriaen Brouwer and Adriaen Ostade is evident in many of his paintings. |
